Latest Site Updates
To better protect the privacy of our sellers and reduce the amount of SPAM that a seller might receive, we have done a couple of things to protect your email address from being easily accessed.

You may already know about the SPAM filtering that we have in place on our contact the seller email form available on all your product pages. Well we have implemented IP logging and added mechanisms server side to ban IP addresses from contacting a seller through this email form. This should cut down on the amount of gibberish and nonsensical messages that you all receive over time as we ban IP addresses and give notice to the spammers that abuse the contact seller form.

To prevent your email addresses from being scraped from the Buy Now purchase buttons, we have removed the email address altogether and replaced the payee email with Download-Bay.com Merchant. Your actual paypal email address will be inserted on the server side at the time of purchase. If you have old Download-Bay.com Buy Now buttons on your site or blog, those payment buttons will still work as normal. We do recommend changing to the new button to protect your email addresses from email spiders.

Re: Latest Site Updates
We have just completed some functional updates that should be of use to you all. Notice that the submenu in your members area now has a couple of extra links to Downloads and Sales Log, and well as the obvious that your members area now looks different.

We decided to give you a quick overview of your account at a glance with the option to see more in detail at the Downloads and Sales Log links. The Downloads page is essentially the same and will have the same functions as you have come to expect, we just decided to break out the download list to clean up the interface a bit.

Most importantly we have extended the sales tracking under the Sales Log. Here you'll be alble to find your earnings for the current day, the past 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, and 365 days. You will also be able to see a list of your sales for the past year. We have also extended the time that we will store sales information to 2 years. Even though your sales log will only show the last 1 year of sales, you now have the option to export your sales log for the past 2 years to a .csv file.

A reminder about the 60 Day sales history: this is still important because 60 days marks the time that the funds for you downloads can not be refunded, this is paypals limit. So for accounting its a good idea to keep the amount shown in 60 day sales in reserve to cover any unexpected refunds, chargebacks, etc. Its only a recommendation, not a requirement.

If there are any problems or bugs with the new features, please post them to the Bug Report forum.

Thank you and enjoy!

Re: Latest Site Updates
We've made a minor change to the way downloads are accessed. Normally a download is available to a buyer for a period of 72 hours (3 days) before the download link expires. Downloads will still be available for the 72 hour period or until the file has been downloaded 8 times, whichever comes first will determine the time of download link expiration. This change addresses download leeching or potential 'group buys' where a single purchase is made and the download link is shared among a large group of downloaders during the 72 hour download period.

Re: Latest Site Updates
So far we have been able to block a good amount of spam from being sent from our product page contact forms, but some still gets through. Fortunately we are logging the spammers and creating quite a large list of blocked spammers. We'll keep trying to refine our spam detection and blocking methods in a way that will not block legitimate messages from being sent.

And the point of the spam is...? At only 300 characters with all html and links stripped out, there really isn't much to spam about. So the spam that is sent is really nothing but a nuisance. Thats my take on this. Let me know how we are doing and any suggestions for improvement.

Enjoy!

Re: Latest Site Updates
UPDATE: The issue of delayed and missing download link emails has been resolved. Thank you for your patience. Below you can view see the original announcement about this server / web host related issue.

----------------------------------------

This announcement is regarding, delayed or missing download link emails.

At the moment we are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our hosting company that is preventing the immediately delivery of download links to customers by email. From what we have been experiencing, some download links are taking up to 12 hours to be delivered to customers and some seem to not be delivered at all. These errors have nothing to do with Download-Bay.com itself and is a result of our web host. We are working with our web host diligently to keep them on task in resolving this issue.

Even though download links are not being properly sent, in most cases download pins are still being generated. You may need to manually email the download pin to your customers and notify them to use their payment email address for manual download entry.

Latest Round Of Spam Blocking
We just were hit with a wave of spammers sending unsolicited nonsense messages to sellers though the contact forms. Fortunately many messages were blocked from being sent because of our maintaining a list of blocked spammers. Unfortunately some of you may have still received a message from these spammers. For those that did receive messages, we have added those spammers to our blocked list as well.

We will continue to remain diligent in preventing spammers from ruining the selling experience on Download-Bay.com
